5 WAYS TO HELP NOW

1. Sign up as an MDCALA supporter
Sign up as a supporter of MDCALA and refer your friends! You will receive valuable updates on MDCALA initiatives in your community, as well as important information on lawsuit abuse.

2. Serve on a jury
Serving on a jury is a concrete way to make certain our courts are fair and balanced. Answer the call when summoned. Jury service is one of the most important things you can do to ensure our courts in Maryland are used for justice not greed.

3. Let your voice be heard
Write a letter to the editor of your local paper or call in to your local radio show when lawsuit abuse is being discussed. Remind everyone that the cost of the U.S. tort system for 2004 was $886 per person or $3,544 for a family of four!

4. Take it to the State House
Let your local politicians hear how you feel about lawsuit abuse. Tell them that, as their constituent, you are concerned about the future of Maryland’s civil justice system. Click here to find your local lawmakers.

5. Take the civil litigation system back from the personal injury lawyers
Report barratry or “ambulance chasing.” Barratry is the illegal solicitation of clients by attorneys. It’s a crime. Report cases of “ambulance chasing” to the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission at acgmd@courts.state.md.us
